Daily Protector Prayers (DIGITAL)

This text was compiled under the guidance of Venerable Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche. While he was at Orgyen Dorje Den bestowing empowerments in September 2023, he kindly gave inspiring advice on the benefits of performing a daily protector practice and how to do so in our tradition. Additionally, Khenpo Rinpoche arranged this recommended protector practice specifically for the benefit of Ven. Gyatrul Rinpoche's greater sangha. We are excited to make this teaching and practice available to all sincere practitioners!

In Part One, Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche offers an inspiring teaching introducing the dharma protectors, why students should maintain a relationship with them on a daily basis, and how this can be easily incorporated into a busy lifestyle. The teaching is followed by a daily protector practice compiled by Khenpo Rinpoche in Part Two, as well as two more concise options for travel in Part Three.

Please Note: Although you are welcome to read Khenpo Rinpoche's teaching in Part One, there are prerequisites for performing this practice on a daily basis. In particular, one must have received both of the following:

1. A Vajrakilaya empowerment. If one does not have this empowerment, it is also acceptable to have received a Guru Rinpoche empowerment and to do the practice with the understanding that Guru Rinpoche and Vajrakilaya are inseparable.

2. A reading transmission for the prayers contained in this text; or, in the best case, both the empowerment for these protector deities and the reading transmission for the prayers.
